Over the past couple of years, there has been a lot of confusion concerning Pope Francis’s Apostolic Constitutions Vultum Dei Quaerere and the accompanying Instruction Cor Orans. A lot of misinformation is circulating in the Catholic Media, for the most part written by well-intentioned laypersons. However good their intentions, these commentators have no experience of the life of contemplative nuns, and so it is not surprising that their comments are frequently wide of the mark.
Because of this confusions Sr. Mary Catharine, O.P., and Sr. Gabriela of the Incarnation, O.C.D. have established a new website, Seeking the Face of God, a website about contemplative nuns and by contemplative nuns. They want to present the facts about the life of contemplative nuns and especially they want to make available the facts about Vultum Dei Quaerere and Cor Orans.
On this website you can find documents and articles, primary sources of information, as well as short video presentations. You can send in your questions and the nuns will be glad to try to give you actual facts.
Confusion is never from the Holy Spirit. Please help contemplative nuns like Sr. Mary Catherine and Sr. Gabriela, who truly want to live their vocation as the praying hands of the Church.
You can visit the website here, www.seekingthefaceofgod.org, , and you can also visit their Facebook page, Contemplative Nuns. Please share this with all those who value contemplative life in the Church!
